Ashish Choudhary

Software engineer in Pune. I write books and articles about Java and AI, and make short films about how software works.

I write code in Java and build AI-powered applications. My work covers Spring Boot, cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, data engineering, caching and databases.

    Books

2 published and one in progress.

    1. 2021

Effortless Cloud-Native App Development Using Skaffold

      Packt, 2021

Removing the friction from the Kubernetes inner loop: build, push and deploy with Skaffold, then take a Spring Boot app to GKE with a CI/CD pipeline.

    2. 2025

      When Docker Meets Java

      Apress, 2025

A practical guide to Docker for Java and Spring Boot applications: packaging a service into an image, then testing, debugging, deploying and scaling it.

    3. 2026

      Agentic Java with Embabel

      In progress

Building agents on the JVM with Spring Boot and the Embabel framework.

    About

I have spent more than fourteen years building and running Java systems: Spring Boot services, Kubernetes platforms, and the delivery pipelines around them. I have written two books, one on Skaffold for Packt and one on Docker for Java developers for Apress. I publish on Medium, mostly in Javarevisited and Level Up Coding, and I have spoken at FOSDEM and GitHub Satellite India.

These days the writing and the code are about one question: how Java teams add LLMs, AI agents, MCP servers and RAG to systems that already run in production, and keep them safe from prompt injection. I am writing a third book, on agentic Java with Embabel, and building Portfolio Intel, CopyGauge, a content pipeline agent and TableTutor on the side.
